My mom passed away this afternoon around 2 in the afternoon. We really appreciated the regular and hospice nurses. It's comforting to know (as much as we can) that she was not in pain. Today, a lot of the time, my brother, sister and I were working on the pictures we had picked out including the 'money' picture which is a very nice picture of mom as a volunteer at River Bluff. We also watched the olympics, cheering for whatever athletes in all those obscure sports. Seemed odd, in some ways, with my mom in the hospital bed, close to death. But, I think it was actually the best as she was part of the activity with her kids close by having a reasonably good time. One of the last things she said was that she wanted things to be more upbeat, no more staring morosely and sadly at her in bed.
She really looked forward to watching the winter olympics and she did get to enjoy them for over a week....

hey sandy, just saw this. I'm so sorry! You know, she really went so quickly...just a week after she made up her mind. But boy, a big change not to have your mom on this earth with you.
