Picture of my mom in her confirmation dress in 1940. 16 years old? Temple Mishkan Israel (or TMI for those in the know) used the reform confirmation ceremony. Not sure that's still in vogue.
Financially, things were tough for this family at this time. But they still came through with the pretty dress. Perhaps my grandmother made it. I don't remember her as a seamstress but she was a tremendous knitter. She was always resourceful as their financial fortunes dwindled. Her family and early marriage were extremely comfortable but the depression caused the family business to fail and they lost nearly everything.
I'm back from Rockford, glad to be home. Dennis has been changing my email client. Since my job has ended, no need to use the familiar but outdated Eudora any longer.
On to new and better things!
