Photoessay #945 - Snow last week

A few shots from my experience with the so called "Arctic Blast" in Illinois last week. Snow on the ground when I got there on Monday but the roads were fine. The predicted snowstorm started around midnight and I took these shots mid-morning from my mom's living room window. By the time it was over, the snow in her front yard rose to about 4 feet with all of the snowplow activity. Wesley Willows crews shoveled and plowed at least twice during the day, maybe more times. You can see the first shift getting organized ready to attack the snow on the driveways and walks

Pretty but a ton of snow. The side road in front of my mom's house never was totally clear so I chose to take a taxicab rather than risk my mom's car. The funky cab company recommended by the Clock Tower people did get me there eventually but was not an entirely top of the line organization. Worn cars with squeaky doors and weak suspension and trash all over the front seat. Drive by men who were not the sharpest stick. But, hey, I got there.

Cold temps too especially after the snow storm, often close to zero. But I didn't notice too much as I was almost always in warm environments. Didn't touch the thermostat in my mom's place. The three of us are in and out of that place.
