Today, Dennis, Naomi, Danny and I took Melina to Pike Place Market. Along with Jessica, Danny's girlfriend. Haven't been there in a long time! But they're still throwing fish, still the high stalls, dried flowers this time of year along with lots of crafts and music. The crowds and the bustle on the main floor seemed to imtimidate Melina (age 9), she seemed to enjoy the picturesque shops downstairs in the warren of burnished walkways underneath. I can really believe that place is haunted and has places out of the main view. Anyway, always a unique experience.
About throwing fish, there's 3 main fish markets, they've been there forever. If you choose a fish, the guys on the periphery start making a big noise and they toss the fish with great flourish to the guys on the inside who wrap it up for you. Years ago, I bought fish here, of course, you never knew if the thing you got wrapped in paper was the same fish you picked out. No matter.
We had lunch in a nice quiet cafe on the water side of the lower floors. Soundview Cafe, nice.
The grandparents bought Melina this special hair doo dad that makes a bun. She really like it and the lady demonstrating it made it seem REAL easy. Plus they had directions. Neither Naomi nor Melina could make it work on the way home....
Some disruption in the blog over the next week as I leave for Rockford in the morning.
