Continuing with the theme from yesterday of my next door neighbor Jonathan. Susanna's best buddy growing up, slightly younger. Jonathan sees huge opportunities in the world around him. He spent a lot of time at my house growing up, he's one of those that qualify as my fifth kid.
Never any doubt that he would be successful as an adult. What stories should I tell on Jonthan?
When he was a young elementary school student, he convinced Susanna that they needed to save for their 'restaraunt' that he was planning to open. So whenever Susanna had any money, she cheerfully handed it over to Jonathan. No problem, he was concentrating capital.
His mom, Kathy, later became horrified when he showed up with a bank account with a balance of $150. Jonathan (second grade?) carefully explained his business plan.
"What?! How did you get this account? I didn't take you to the bank?"
Bank day at the elementary school, Jonathan was just using available resources.
"Some of this money is Susanna's??? How much?"
Both children shrugged. They hadn't kept track.
"We're building our restaurant" said Susanna confidently
Kathy finally decided that the best she could do was to split the account and give half back to Susanna.
Just be glad that limited partnerships or securities weren't available through Bank Day or Jonathan would been well into building his financial empire.
Jonathan shone in drama, he appeared in most of the plays at the high school. Became an accomplished vocalist. Graduated from the University of Washington in economics and was Director of Finance for the Associated Students whatever it was.
He immediately got a nice Federal Govt job administering contracts. Now I hear that Jonathan joined the Coast Guard (see picture). What? Turns out that he decided he wanted to serve his country and liked the Coast Guard. Some very selective officer program he applied for. Training involved 3 weeks at the Coast Guard Academy graduating as an ensign (which I think is the lowest level officer). Still keeps his job.
No doubt in my mind....
Shown with his mother at his graduation from the Coast Guard Academy program.
