Photoessahy #788 - Many definitions of success
I just had some email correspondence with my co-rep Curtis about definitions of success. Our Seattle group has had strong attendance since we moved into our new church. At least 40 people every meeting for months. Even with our currently compromised room. A month or so ago there was a small fire in the boiler room. This triggered a ton of renovation due to smoke damage. It's a good thing as that church had not seen renovation in many decades. But the place is all ripped off and the main meeting room has been the staging area for supplies, tools, materials, displaced items etc. They gave us another room but it's way too small so we've been holding our meeting in the middle of the mess. Last time, we only had a quarter of the room available. But number of people attending is not the only definition of success.
My mother is knocking down her third piece of cake in this picture. Fabulous cake inside and out. Red velvet cake with chocolate ganache filling and cream cheese frosting. An edible version of the tallit was draped on the cake. And tasty :(
When I was sitting with my mom, I got one piece of cake at the reception and split it. My mom ate that and declared she wanted a bigger piece this time.
Big deal, old lady likes the cake. But actually, it showed my mom's determination. Eating is one of her main challenges. No appetite, living by herself, she doesn't eat. You can see how thin she is. We're always trying to get her to eat. On this trip, she ate at every meal, had a smile on her face throughout. She didn't want to miss a thing.
Shown here with my cousin at the barbecue hosted by my ex brother in law.
Keep eating mom!
UPDATE: Off to Pullman for the orientation so maybe no pictures for a few days
