Photoessay #722 - My 4 kids

I know this has been a week of lots of group pictures and they continue. Naomi graduated from high school this evening in a haze of blue and gray robes accompanied by bagpipes. Again, I was amazed at the diversity at this school. Of course, you can see that by walking down the halls seeing the kids. Watching the graduates and listening to the names, many who graduated have African, African American, Hispanic, East Indian and various Asian backgrounds. Many large groups of family and friends of color came to honor their graduate.

Makes the history department of U Washington (and most all of the U Oregon) look pretty darn white.

Pretty uproarious afterwards. But here my 4 kids mug at Naomi's high school graduation. The tall shadowy guy looking over their shoulder is a large cardboard cutout of Edward Cullen, a characted\r from Twilight that Ilana had purchased and brought to graduation (not too clear why). But Edward took up a seat and there was a large amount of merriment associated with trying to put him together in the hall afterwards (assisted by the EMY guy who was there in case somebody collapsed or something)

I think this affected Danny as he did not graduate from high school nor had he attended a Shorecrest graduation. Afterward, we bought a bunch of Chinese takeout which we ate here (little bit concerned about Teddy who had been with Susanna and Alice most of the day). Naomi went off to the all-night senior spree party (designed so kids won't go out and drink, but unclear why we have to do this).

Tomorrow I'll have an empty nest for a tiny amount of time as Dennis takes Naomi up to camp and Ilana moves her stuff back at the same time. Actually no kids are here right now.

Two graduations in three days. A good thing but, like many things associated with a large family, a bit overwhelming when there's so much of whatever.
