Photoessay #659 - To Eugene

Hoping that our presence will inspire those Softball Ducks to victory. They will be playing two of the top teams in the country this weekend...Washington and UCLA. Their season has been a bit of trial. 13-23, 2-7 conference. In the Pac 10 cellar. But this is a talented team who can win. They've beaten both of these teams before. In other years, but still. The year UCLA won the whole thing, the Ducks swept them in conference. I was there.

Pac 10 weekends are fleeting, there are just 3 a year. So you can't put it off, you have to go. Also, we've got a parent tailgate going this weekend. Started by Dennis this time, showing how the parent use can work. Starting with Saturday breakfast. Grant is right, you don't need his fancy set up to tailgate. He said "put up your little table, cooler and cold cuts, and they will come" The tailgate experience was one of the best of Susanna's tenure on the team. Made for great comeraderie; the players would stop by before the game because they knew they would get a free breakfast. Coach J would come out and cook. It made a community. And often the Ducks would WIN on our tailgate days.

Here's hoping! And hoping that we got on Hannah's list. Being on a player's list is always an iffy situation. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. On our last trip to Berkeley, the Cal folks said they didn't have a pass list from Oregon. Being the parent of a senior and more than a little cheeky, I did a quick census, wrote it up, had Coach A initial it and we all got in for free.

Not sure where I got this picture; it was last year, the beginning of a celebration for a home run.
