Photoessay #644 - Marie's coming home! Part 2

Marie will be home tomorrow and we pray that she will heal from her injuries.

Celia's service was set for last Thursday at the Seattle Aquarium. The Times wrote a news (not paid) obituary Such a talented young woman. She put in a lot of hours at the Aquarium. Seems like that would be a good place for a memorial

The Seattle Aquarium is a complete and beautiful center for the study of all kinds of marine life. Very nice place on the waterfront but pricey. Certainly not a place that we would casually go though we did take Melina there not too long ago, being in the position of Disneyland grandparents. Melina really enjoyed it btw.

Ilana wasn't sure that she wanted to go to the memorial "I hardly knew Celia, she was Marie's friend" I encouraged her to go. "You'll be representing Marie" I urged her. So she went.

So what kind of sendoff did the Aquarium give Celia? I wasn't there, secondhand from Ilana.

"Best possible! I arrived there, must have been after closing time, coffee and refreshments, a short introduction. He said that the aquarium was open for 30 minutes. Every single part of the aquarium was open, all staffed by volunteers who turned out for Celia. You could see everything, if anything there were too many people there to help. There was a service afterward with speeches and remembrances and videos and pictures. Then as a final commemoration, they said that Celia's favorite part was to feed the sea mammals. So they took everybody behind the scenes (maybe 150 people) and they did a special feeding of all the sea mammals, all the dolphins and seals and walruses. Special meal for Celia."

So touching and thoughtful. So appropriate for a talented young woman who went before her time.

My opinion of that darn expensive aquarium just went up a ton. I get teary-eyed thinking about what an effective tribute for her. I'm so glad that Ilana went.

Welcome home Marie!

Edit: Ilana clarified, she saw no dolphins but there definitely were sea otters. Marie arrived safely home and is seeking medical care here.
