My friend Diane's youngest two grandchildren Samantha and Baby Owen who is just a few days old in this picture. Pretty cute! I just had to grab that picture and scan it! Their mom, Amy, exhibited what you you might call drive by childbirth at a birthing center. Arived at 6:45, had baby at 8:15, on the way home at 10:15. Way to do it if you are young and strong. Myself, I was in for several days with C sections. I used to think they ought to give you an extra day in the hospital for every child you had at home.
When my last was born, there was some structural and room changes that had to be accomplished. My mother was a little concerned that not much progress had been made rather late in the pregnancy. I said "Don't worry, when I come home from the hospital with that baby, the room will be ready. It might not be on the timeline that you would use but that room will be ready". Sure enough, when I came home, the room was ready. I know that Dennis and his mom and dad were working around the clock, all night, painting and moving and working. I knew it would be all ready when I walked in that door. The flip side was that they were all dead exhausted.
Nothing like deadline pressure.
But welcome to the world Owen! And yes, I did give him a pair of my mom's booties. And a hat too!
