Photoessay #497 - A shadowbox

A terrible scan but a thoughtful gift from Susanna. It's a memorial shadowbox (ha ha, get it, great pun!!) of Shadow, our dog recently passed away. Shortly before Shadow died, they took off her collar and I removed her id tag with her name and our phone number that Dennis had made for her and gave it to Susanna. Susanna took a picture of shadow and the id tag and put it in a shadowbox frame that has the words "Good doggie" and "Woof" printed on the glass and on the matting. A memorial gift, very nice.

And we are so glad to get our power back!!! All though this stormy period, we have kept our power, so glad! Many of us including myself have not gotten over the incident from the windstorm two years ago when the power was out 5 1/2 days. Today our luck ran out as the temperatures warmed and the snow started to melt. We lost our power around 11am and it didn't come back until nearly 5pm. Christmas Eve. And tons and tons of snow still around. Even after yesterday's melt, Ilana measured 10 inches on our picnic table. The worst part besides the fact that it's getting dark and the temp outside is in the 30s is that you don't know WHEN (or even IF) it's coming back on.

We had talked to the greater Gellermans and lined up a place to stay at their new double downhouse should we need it. We already had planned to go out to dinner at the local Chinese place which is the only place that's open. But just as we were breaking out the flashlights, the power came back on. Yay!!! Big celebration! So we went out to dinner and decided to stop by the greater Gellermans anyway as they had been so kind (plus we are family to each other, that's how it goes). They had a spread out and we ended up staying quite a while. My 3 girsl always enjoy Janine, my 5th kid. We played some games and watched a Christmas movie.

Now home. We still have chains on the van and we needed them!!!
