There's been snow and now more snow is coming, lots more snow. And wind. I HATE the wind! No, it's not the wind, I HATE losing my power with the outside temperature of 22 degrees. We have new windows but really hardly an insulation in our roof, guess that's the next project. Actually James (our contractor, I love James) was over scoping out the bathroom and the living room floor covering replacement. He told me about these natural gas generators, these things on the side of the house and when your power goes, they immediately kick in using your natural gas. Yes! Yes! I want one of THOSE. They cost a ton of money but right now I really want to have one.
James often does a project at our house during xmas week. Nobody else wants work done then, James says he has one of his helpers around during the holidays looking for work.
I did panic shopping last night, I did power cooking this morning. I have made a lemon pie and one big-ass lasagna. Stop me before I go upstairs and make a big pot of chicken cacciatore. Actually I do have a gas stove so you can light the burners. Nobody's stopping me, I might go up and do it. You could store it outside. You might be really glad to have it, I have the ingredients, etc etc. I may just go and do it.
I have made provisional reservations with my next door neighbor, she has a wood stove in her basement. We'll be by!
What I hope is that tomorrow's blog will show that it was really nothing, no big deal and I still have my power. Right? That's what I want. Cliff Mass' weather blog posts around 12:30 pm that it's already snowing in Shelton and snow could be here within two hours. Really snow is ok, just no power loss, ok?
Most adults, mostly women including myself have never quite gotten over the big windstorm two years ago when we lost our power for over 5 days. However it was not THAT cold (temp maybe in the low 40s) and no snow so you could get around in the car. This time, lots of snow and impassable streets.
I cautioned Ilana about going downtown but she went anyway. Just talked to Susanna, she was about to make that trip to the store. James says "I always wait until the last minute, more fun that way"
The pictures? Two inhabitants of our front yard this noon taking advantage of the goodies that Dennis provides to his woodland herd.
I guess I'm glad that I don't have a sick dog to take care of. I miss Shadow though.
