Photoessay #452 - Election Day Organization

Susanna was pretty sure that she would not be able to vote because she was registered in Oregon. She called me in the middle of the day most upset that she could not vote. Then she heard that she could go to a polling place and vote 'provisionally' or something. Earlier, an election day canvasser had hung this 'get out the vote' hanger on my door. You can't quite read it on the image but towards the bottom:

Call our election protection hotline at 1-877-WA-CHANGE

I assume it's for voters who are having problems. I called, was immediately connected to a knowledgeable person who could help me right away. She said that Susanna was on the rolls at our address and she could go to the local school and vote. Susanna was thrilled and, in fact, arrived at the school just after Naomi. Naomi saw her name on the list and was calling her sister to let her know.

Amazing that they could set up such a good interface for just one day and be able to staff it so professionally.

Dennis points out that she probably was on the voter list here in this precinct and that she was registered additionally in Oregon. Probably true.

The only time the presidential and vice presidential candidates have come to our state was the day before the caucuses when they were all here for about 12 hours. I think Biden came for one event. But nothing, nope. I guess they figure that Washington is hopelessly blue.
