Photoessay #468 - A trip to Spuds

A few weeks ago, one of my daughters (don't really remember which) talked us into going to Spud Fish and Chips at Alki Beach in West Seattle. Again, they've lost their touch with the fish, but we go anyway. Alki Beach on a summer evening represents some of the best in Seattle. Kind of a long drive.

Dennis parents grew up in West Seattle and Jim worked at Spud when he was in high school. Throughout the years, it was always a special treat to go there. When my parents came to Seattle, my mother always wanted to fit in a trip to Spuds. She loved the fish and she loved the beach. We would take Jim and Lanaya and maybe even Cousin Alice if that worked out. Eat in the upstairs dining room if the weather was bad or take the fish and eat across the street at Alki Beach. Always plenty of people and birds, panoramic view of the downtown across Elliot Bay, and always some interesting boats or at least a ferry or two.

Here, the girls pose with their dad with Elliot Bay (part of Puget Sound) in the background. We've already had the fish and chips. Ilana 22, Susanna 23, Naomi 18.
