Photoessay #455 - Wedding Hawks

Today was Amy M's wedding and we all attended. Afterwards, I staged a picture of the Washington LadyHawks team members from 2002, the famed LadyHawks Blue team.

Six years later.

It's Amy's (catcher) wedding.

From left to right

Shawdin (with Baby Owen) she played third. Bridesmaid
Kim Outfielder, red dress, she's a guest Played at Willmaette
Kristina Pitcher. All American player at Cal, now on Chicago Bandits, she's a bridesmaid but isn't wearing the dress
Amy Catcher, the bride. Played at U Virginia
Susanna 2nd Base, all Pac 10 2nd base at Oregon, Maid of Honor

In front, Roger, their coach and a great positive influence on all of them.

They were all on the field during their probably most memorable game, August 2002 at the 18A National in a winner's bracket game against the Grapettes. They battled extra innings into the night, Kristina pitching, Susanna tying up the game in extra innings with a ground rule double. The Grapette coach stopped the tournament protesting that the bat Susanna was using was illegal. For months afterwards, college coaches remembered That Game. I looked around and it seemed that everybody at that huge tournament was watching. LadyHawks eventually lost the game. Probably pivotal in Susanna's recruiting.

They loved to see each other again and gather for this joyous occasion!
