Photoessay #438 - View from the hot tub

It pronounced 'sea shell' which seems somehow appropriate. On an isthmus between two salt water bodies of water, the Georgia Strait on the south and Porpooise Bay, the south end of the Sechelt Inlet on the north. From the map, it's easy to imagine some natural disaster would sink this isthmus and the Sechelt peninsula becomes Sechelt Island. With the ocean to the south, all direction seems turned around (we had that problem in Whistler when all the maps didn't necessarily show north at the top).

This area is known as the Sunshine Coast and I'm not sure why, some kind of marketing inspiration. Definitely reminds me of the Olympic Peninsula and the island in Puget Sound aways to the south. But we kind of knew that coming in, it might be much of what we were already familiar with. Again, our B&B is very very nice, it's called Absolute Heaven, two suites, incorporated into a waterfront home on the ocean. Beautiful garden! Hot tub overlooking the rocky beach, fun at sunset! Want to do that again tonight. Completely yummy breakfast, everything lovely.

One thing we learned last night, even though this is somewhat of a tourist oriented town, do not try to find a grocery story or restaurant open on a Sunday evening, everything is locked up tight! Ask us how we know! We eventually found one open grocery store. We drove up the east side of Sechelt inlet but didn't find much of interest to the casual visitor. Fairly large native presence. But mostly, a quiet day in this nice apt overlooking the ocean. Not bad!
