Photoessay #444 - Vacationing in Meadow Park

A week ago Saturday, after the gondola and chairlift ride up to the mountain followed by the rice bowl lunch at the top of the gondola, Dennis and I looked for a nice scenic place to spend the afternoon. We considered taking the shuttle bus to Lost Lake; it was a very warm afternoon. But it seemed that every young person with a towel was headed that way and the bus didn't seem to show up. So we took off in search of some scenic country maybe near a lake. One problem with the Whistler maps; they often don't show north pointing up which can make for confusing befuddling forays. And lots and lots of other people were looking for some lake access this hot Saturday afternoon in the mountains.

So we drove around a lot not finding anything. Until we bumbled into Meadow Park and Sports Centre, a neighborhood park that we weren't looking for. But it was quiet and green and why not? As a bonus, the River of Golden Dreams (or some such inflated name) ran through it plus quite a few of the trails that run throughout the Tourist Municipality. Turned out to be a wonderful place to spend some of the afternoon. I went wading in the river (delightful) and Dennis took a snooze on the picnic bench. Can't beat the scenery. Looks like vacation to me.

Plus I left a letterbox under the storage shed near one of the softball fields.
