Last October at the Changes Gala, I purchased a Mexican dinner for 10 at the small auction. For $300. I then invited 9 other people to go. I have many friends of whom I am very fond in that group and I couldn't quite remember which 9 I had asked. No matter! I feel very honored to know all of them.
Last night we had the dinner at the J's house. It was delicious and wonderful, I will feature the illustrious cooks (Norma (head cook and former Board member), Fredda (current chair for the Board) and Ruth (current Executive Director) and the wonderful food.
I insisted on a group picture out on the deck with the view of Lake Washington in the background. A little alarming for the J family because when all of these adult gathered on one part of the deck, it settled slightly. Or something. I took the picture, Dennis is on the far left. It occurs to me that I have served on the team of all of these people except one. And she asked me but I wasn't joining any new teams at that time because of so many planned softball trips. All of us parents of significantly acting out teens or young adults who have participated in the Changes Parent Support Network for a number of years. Not a coincidence that, of the six families represented in the picture, three are parents by adoption. But look at us, we are all looking intact and enjoying a wonderful evening.
Including Mark who has a long arm span and is making some kind of statement behing C's head....smart ass!
