Photoessay #427 - Swings

On Saturday, we picked up Melina and went to a beach and playground at Mukilteo. Huge ferry line; we were so glad that we weren't having to stress about waiting multiple hourse to get on that darn ferry. We brought our lunch to a small waterfront park at Mukilteo Not a sand beach, you could clamber across the rocks to Puget Sound. I didn't but Naomi took Melina down to the water and they looked under the rocks and picked up shells.

No secret that Naomi makes these visits so smooth and easy. She has such a talent to connect with young children. She starts chatting with Melina and does everything with her. Naomi, a little reluctant to go with us "Can't I have one day without having to interact with little girls?" (she works as a counselor at a girl scout camp). But she came, as usual, she was the one who interacted the most with Melina. Not sure how much opportunity Melina has to go on outing such as these. Kind of shuttled between her mom (who lives with a boyfriend and his family) and her grandparents (traditional Cambodian family). So we take the role as "Disneyland Dad" taking Melina on these enrichment outings (aquarium, ferry ride, etc). Next stop Boeing museum and plant tour.

But Naomi is enjoying herself on the swings with her niece. These swings overlooking the Sound. Nice new playground that seemed to have equipment that really entertained the kids. We had a picnic lunch, kind of threw the frisbee around, watched the divers, saw a big heron. Tide pools and all that.
