Another one of my pictures from my Bothell Slough trip on Tuesday morning. I took a lot of pictures of some historical structures in the park that I don't have much relationship with. The photos that stick with me are the bird and mist pictures. All part of discovery, I look at this period of photography and writing as a personal discovery of my own vision and voice.
Recently I read a piece about views of intelligence, in regards to misguided corporate policies of identifying and favoring bright young employees. The authors pose the question...Is intelligence innate or is it something developed over time? I found my 'old' entrenched view was that intelligence was a defined set characteristic. I can also see that this view limits us all. So I work on developing my own intelligence and my own aesthetic, something previously I have considered very weak.
The sleepy ducks? I thought ducks rose early to get the early worm. Apparently not. It's 9am and these mallards snooze away. I could see the seed and dirt overhang on the far side of the slough and many water fowl gathered underneath. NOw I see that they are napping! Heads turned and tucked beneath their wings. Balanced on one foot. They don't snuggle, do they? Also, I now recognize that another small bird has cuddled up along with the ducks. Must be a safe place.
I used photoshop to sharpen the images of the birds so they stand out
