Photoessay #269 - My kids 15 years ago

Or so..trying to date this picture. Possible 1993, that would make the 4,7,9,11. Approximately. Who can figure it out? I do remember the place and circumstances. We traveled to Dennis' friend's Leo's 'cabin' in the mountains outside of Tillamook in northwestern Oregon. How's that for three possessives in a row? The small house, rather primitive and a bit run down but certainly functional, furnished and free, located on a tract of logged land of second growth timber about 30 miles up from Tillamook. Not near anything. A number of family members also had small houses on the property. I think the house consisted of two cottages used by loggers pushed together. Modest. Leo had assumed responsibility on behalf of his family. Probably still does. Right on the river (which river? Wilson?). It was pretty in a rustic rough sort of way. But not really a lot to do but plenty of space to do it in. And this hammock right in front. Where I snapped this picture of the kids. They always did like to hang around together. You can see how tall Susanna was, maybe even taller than Danny at that point.

Ilana, on the right, is the same young person (now 21) I was dancing with . I posted that picture yesterday.

I figure I get to post an old picture once/week.

Your faithful reader is back from the wild world of the rich. The Bahama's are beautiful and warm. The service was wonderful. The food was better. The beaches were perfect. Back to the world of "chicken helper".

I think your kids were around this age when I visited you. Teresa was very young.

I have not-so-fond memories that of falling on my face off that hammock.

It taught me the important hammock life lesson: balance.
