Photoessay #274 - Olympic Mountains

I was supposed to come right back from Costco...so Dennis could take the Prius to the ACLU meeting (how knee-jerk liberal is that?) But instead he took the old minivan completely filled with cases of undistributed (as yet) girl scout cookies. And I didn't come straight home, completely distracted by the beautiful day. On the way to Costco, I caught a glimpse of the Olympic mountains on the horizon. I have found it harder than you might imagine to get a good view of the mountains. Tons of people have view homes. But not me, and I don't think most would appreciate me trespassing through their yard to get a good shot. Not that I have not done it.

So instead of dutifully grocery shopping, I ranged over the neighborhoods just west of our local Costco searching for that vista. I found one! View from above Richmond Beach from a neighborhood looking over Puget Sound towards the Olympic peninsula with the south end of Bainbridge Island in the middle view. The majestic peaks, the Olympics to the west of us.

I intend to cross post on daily city photo blog.

Later in the afternoon, I took some pictures of the Cascades (to the east of us) from the local high school.

I wish I lived in a part of the country with a view like this. Your photo is outstanding!
