Photoessay #207 - Basketball photography

Taking sports pictures is hard. Evidenced by our large number of BAD softball pictures. Last night, I volunteered to staff an informational table for the fund-raising projects to send the greater Shorecrest band to Ireland this spring at the high school basketball game. Naomi, as one of the Highland Dancers, will participate. Ilana went with the girl scouts some years ago. I was so busy and harried that I didn't pay too much attention to the trip planning. After they left, I looked into the places they were going; Ireland's a fascinating place, especially the ancient ruins and structures. I never knew.

I tried my hand at taking basketball pictures; I'm posting my two best efforts. So hard to capture the action, to have the camera pointing the right place. Despite my best efforts, my digital camera has a delay, so by the time the picture actually registers, the play is long gone. At least, these show SOME action. I don't know how the sports photographers do it.
