Our first snow this year. Supposed to snow this afternoon and here it is. I have a big pot of soup on and I'm not anticipating losing power. One does have an overwhelming urge to bake.
Which I'm resisting.
I have given in to the extremely strong urge to make soup. MUST. MAKE. SOUP. I make up one pot of soup and I'm already planning my next batch. Chicken soup, soup with beans, soup with squash, soup with orzo.
The rest of my family roll their eyes. More soup? they say. Why do we have more soup? Must make soup, I say. I'm planning to go upstairs and adding yellow squash, green beans and some yukon gold potatoes to my existing soup.
Check out the soup.
Update: I gave in and have an apple cake in the oven

Oh I hear you about the soup. I love love love soup, especially as the weather cools. And in the summer a favorite is gazpacho, and even watermelon gazpacho which I first had in OKC at the art museum there at the CWS. Does this make any sense at all??? All these letters? Jess is going to publish some of her great softball pics from the World Series on her blog. I'll let you know when they're up...just for fun. Bon Apetit!
I tried to make soup today. It's good, but it's not as good as yours. I think I need to add seasoning or something. Or maybe just be more patient and not eat it after only three hours!

Add some garlic and salt and maybe some italian seasoning. I also believe that red chile pepper belongs in everything. You do have to let it cook for awhile. I bet your soup will taste really good tomorrow.
