Photoessay #176 - Sapphire hues on the lake
Really I just wanted to use that word. A few weeks ago, at Mom'n Me on Lake Bennettson which, as I have previously described, in the middle of NOWHERE. Very unlikely day for such a pretty picture of sky and water, it stormed the night before and rained most all of the morning. But some pretty late afternoon lights.
Ilana and another staff member are running the canoeing waterfront. Every hour, a different group of moms and daughters come and get to take a canoe out onto the lake. Previous experience not necessary. The canoes are stable, the lake is small, everybody is wearing a PFD, it's pretty safe. You really can't get into too much trouble. Ilana did have to go out and tow in some folks who just couldn't figure it out during the last hour.
But this group is looking good. Ilana helps a pair into a canoe. I'm at the very left side of the picture. Plenty of paddling going on. In the middle of the afternoon, Ilana and I went out for awhile and paddled around the lake. She paddled mostly, I was 'sitting princess', that usually means in the middle but mostly you are along for the ride.
