Photoessay #138 - South Hill

This evening, Dennis and I traveled to Puyallup to speak to the parents and players of the three LadyHawks teams about recruiting. 55 miles away. The event itself and talk was fine. Beforehand, we met Dennis's brother Brian for an early supper at a local restaurant at Thun airfield, a local airport with private planes. Nice litte place with great burgers.

But South Hill itself! It makes Aurora Ave look good. Mile on mile of congested traffic with endless commercial strips. Globalization central with every chain store imaginable with many duplicated over the long commercial stretch. Nothing to recommend it, the traffic is heavy and the lights are slow. So many parking lots, hard to believe that this area could support so many businesses.

I used to think that Brian lived in a remote, almost rural area in Graham. But his little house is a mile or so from this crowded over commercialized area.
