Photoessay #131 - New digs

Both the University of Washington (Ilana) and the University of Oregon (Susanna) will finally start up this week. As our neighbor who graduated from UW used to describe the quarter schedule "They wait until we beg for it".

Susanna has an established house with other athletes. Ilana will be moving into her new apt this next Saturday (pictured earlier this summer). She lived in the dorms the first two years and will be moving into the basement apt in this home about 10 blocks north of campus. Located in a very nice quiet neighborhood of larger single family homes, this clean 4 bedroom unit comes furnished. The owner is part of the extended family of one of her roommates and is invested in this particular group of students as tenants. Right on the bus line, not far from campus, a great location. I looked at the neighborhood and advised "go for it!". Really reasonable rent also.

Quick bike or bus ride to campus, good roommates, 9 month lease, yard, quiet, I'm thinking that this will work. Be assured that plenty of really sleazy units rented to students by slumlords in the U District. Some pretty skanky according to Ilana.

Update: I wrote this about a week ago and then didn't use it. Ilana and Dennis are over there right now, moving Ilana in. She commuted from home for the first few days of class but seems eager to get her own place going. Who can blame her?

But it's easy to have Ilana here with us. I will miss her daily humor and amusing musings. But we still see her quite often. Hope that this particular roommate set works out.

She's looking forward to it....
