Photoessay #109 - Harstine Island

Dennis' family has a cabin on the water at Harstine Island in the South Sound. Built by his grandfather, his aunts now maintain it and have several family get-togethers during the summer including Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Traditionally they serve ham and champagne and whatever others bring.

A short walk down the embankment to a rock wall with a short stairway to the rocky beach. This time, a 4 year old grandchild was enjoying himself on the beach with Ilana and Naomi. He loved turning over the rocks "Look a little crab! Look! I've found another one" he would sing out. Since there are many many rocks on that beach and he delighted in turning every single one of them over and announcing his finds, he was entertained with my two girls for quite some time. Eventually he scraped his finger on a barnacle, a Major Crisis. Luckily his grandfather had a bandaid in his wallet which he expertly applied to save the day.

Pictures feature the cabin from the top of the retaining wall, a little bit of the inside chat and the small child looking for rocks (you see there are quite a few) with Ilana and Uncle Allan's Corgi who apparently enjoys water.
