Photoessay #95 - Wheat

To go with the last advice about Leavenworth and Cashmere, skip Moses Lake and go for Ritzville. On impulse as we were driving along I90, we stopped in Ritzville because the sign promised "Historical area" Ilana LOVES historical areas. Turns out to be a very cute museum in Ritzville staffed by a retired telegraph operator eager to show us EVERYTHING they had. So we had the royal tour of the restored railway station, caboose, telegraph office. More historical information about Ritzville High School than ANYbody would want. He talked a lot about the existing community in rural Adams County and was stunned that we didn't know about the current price of wheat. Everybody in Adams County knew that the price of wheat was high; great news for all of the dryland farmers.

Off to Cheney for a tour of Eastern Washington University then hit the road for the 70 mile drive to Pullman. Very pretty country of golden rolling hills just done with the wheat harvest dotted with green pines and oaks.
