Photoessay #72 - Uncle Jerry's Dinner

We have some friends who we consider extended family locally, who I refer to as the Greater G's, Ilana's friend who lives with her mom and her aunt. Every once in a while, their brother, Uncle Jerry, comes visiting from Florida. Uncle Jerry loves to cook, until recently owned a small restaurant. You always want to score a dinner invite when Jerry's in town.

Nancy calls me "Hey, Jerry's visiting and he's cooking, when do you want to come to dinner?". Just tell us when. And Uncle Jerry did not disappoint. He served up a feast:

Appetizers:
Tostiones (Plantains fried in corn meal with garlic butter)
Stuffed mushrooms (italian bread crumbs and pepperoni)
Chips with Jerry's fresh made salsa

Dinner:
Pulled pork and brisket sandwiches with Jerry's home-made barbecue sauce
Thai peanut coleslaw
Grilled Vegetables

I supplied the dessert, mint chip ice cream with Euphoria Chocolate hot fudge. That chocolate IS the good stuff from Eugene.

A meal fit for what the softball players called a "food coma" After dinner the entertainment was showing everybody how to start our Prius and drive back and forth in the driveway. Do we know how to have fun or WHAT?

Above, Jerry's showing Linda the fine points of frying plantains. Below are Jerry's grilled vegetables, squash, asparagus, purple onions, corn and potatoes. The last picture includes the two families when the dinner is done. Uncle Jerry's looking pretty pleased with his dinner and spending time with his sisters and niece. Jerry's impressed with the quality of the local produce, might move here. Let's hear it for more Uncle Jerry dinners!

Yum, yum. I'd like to be part of Jerry's extended local family and be invited over when he cooks. I just love to eat, and his food looks delicious. The company looks fine too.

Looks great and they sound like your speed of friends. Having a hybred car has been a great source of entertainment . . . for us gas hungry people.
