At the request of my brother (who was there), I am including this picture taken in March during the tournament in Hawaii. From the uniform, probably Oregon vs Kent State. Player tries to steal a base against Susanna. I'm not sure what the call was but, after the game we showed her the picture and she bellowed with complete certainty. "She was SO OUT! She was SOOOOO OUT!!!!!" The umpire IS right there and the only thing you can say for sure, is that there's a lot of dust involved.
University of Oregon won that tournament, defeating Hawaii and Georgia (twice). They were the first ranked teams they faced this last year. Hawaii later made a very strong showing in the UCLA Regional defeating the host team, the heavily favored UCLA. The real shocker came the next evening when UCLA was eliminated by Loyola Marymount. Oregon did make it to the final day of the South Carolina Regional.
