Teach-in
Today, Dennis and I attended this UW event. Just heard about it last night. My demography teacher sent it out and said she was cancelling class so people could attend. Walker-Ames Room, easy to get to. We were able to park in the Red Square garage. They had a good turnout, mostly students. We were about the only folks there.
Nikita Oliver, a young well-known activist pictured at the top, was the last speaker. We saw why; you don't want to be following her. Extremely articulate and compelling. I disagree with her on "No New Youth Jail," but it's really hard to talk with those people. All the speakers were good, it may have been too many as there really wasn't enough time in 90 minutes.
This issue confuses me. There's I-80 and I-200 and I-1000 and most everybody in that room was too young to remember Affirmative Action anyway.
