L' shona Tova

That's what we Jews say to each other on Rosh Hashonah, it means Have a good year or Happy New Year.  Today I went to the daytime services; it's been years since I've done this.  But I wanted to hear the shofar.  Maybe they blow it just a little on the night before but if you want the real deal.  I noticed that they did the shofar blowing at the very end.  I didn't mind; I enjoyed the whole thing.  I deferred on Dennis, he will go to Kol Nidre next week.

Turns out that they had three men who played the shofar and they played the four calls.  Actually multiple occurrences of three of the calls.  The last one Tekiyah Godolah is the big one, everyone waits for it.  At the end.  That one is one long blast and it goes for as long as the player's breath lasts; the longer the better.

Often the privilege of playing the shofar goes down through a family.  Don'e know if that was the case on this one.

Update on baby Harper Jo.  She's nearly 12 weeks old, now 4 lbs 8 oz (up from 1 lb 7 ounce.  Her breathing tube has been taken out.  Still in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  Susanna and Megan went to visit; we have their dog Hammy.
