Our big spring panel

Last week we had our Spring Faculty Panel for our Access Student Group.  Topic: Framing Racism.  Came off great.  So much work.  A lot of it me worrying that people wouldn't come.  But they did.  Dennis counted nearly 60 people attending.  People say to me "Sandy, has it ever happened that people didn't come?"  Um, no, it's never happened.  We wanted three panelists but I could only get two.  Playing identity politics, I wanted an African American and a woman, but I couldn't get it to happen.  We ended up with two very popular faculty members with Access students, really superstars.  Moon-Ho Jung and Devin Naar.  Having both of them was really fun.  We all decided to go through with just two on the panel.  Reona, did a great job as moderator.

Really, I do feel strongly that we have such a great opportunity given to us by UW to put on events like this.  We can do it and they come out great.  You just have to have the courage and be willing to do the work.

Great presentation bringing up many difficult issues around racism and antisemitism.  We only took written questions but didn't have much chance to use them.

Many thanks to UW, the ASRG board members and our faculty panel members.
