Bloody Sunday

Apparently, they re-enact the Bloody Sunday March in Selma every year.  I guess in March.  This image is from the event this year.  Taken off the CNN feed without permission.

The Edmund Pettus Bridge.

He was a segregationist and a Klan member.  The bridge in Selma Alabama bears his name.  But most people will now associate his name with the March to Montgomery.  I find that very satisfying.

We walked over that bridge solemnly and silently last summer as part of our civil rights bus trip.  Very sobering and atmospheric.
