Snow consequences

View from my front door today.  Usually I think snow pictures are pretty pointless and boring.  But this one has consequences.

We were scheduled to have Grandma Anne's memorial today.  But the forecasts became ever more dire over the course of the week.  We had snow earlier in the week (who remembers when) but the forecast for Friday was big.  I just couldn't see how we would get down to Des Moines (37 miles away).  And what about everybody else?  The plans called for Anne's sisters Eliza, Emily and Jenny to com maybe from Tacoma, maybe Eliza from Harstene Island.  Our crew from North Seattle.  The church people ( we were going to have the full choir ).  Getting the food and flowers and setup.

Everything EVERYTHING scheduled for today has been cancelled.  Schools, UW (including Pac 12 athletic events) and lots of other businesses including Seattle Pops, events at Temple.  Everything.  Plus there was a run on the stores yesterday.  Empty shelves.  I had done my shopping on Wednesday.  Though we did buy a pizza on the way back from a dr appt yesterday.

So we really had to postpone the service.  Dave's in charge and he set it for next week.  Ilana and Matt gave up coming from Indiana (smart move).  But now, Susanna can't come because she planned another trip based on the first memorial date.  And Naomi leaves that afternoon to Greece.  I think we lost the choir and Eliza had to go home.

Since now, they're talking about an even bigger snowstorm on Tuesday.  So I don't even know if that's far enough out.

But knock on wood, we have not lost our power; hope we don't.  And we still have plenty to eat.
