99% European Jewish
After much discussion and persuasion, I sent in a DNA sample to Ancestry. There are two main components
a. an analysis of the geographic area of your ancestors
b. a list of people who 'match'
There were 3 potential 2nd cousins, many potential 3rd cousins. Only one person I recognized and she, indeed, is a third cousin.
I had long maintained that the geographic analysis would be nonsense. Because I thought that I had a very homogeneous ancestry. I knew 5 generations and more - all European Jews. There would be no startling scandinavian, african american or indigenous ancestry.
My genealogy group finally convinced me, you gotta do it!
So I did.
And the ethnic ancestry came out .... 99% European Jewish. A surprise NOT!!!!
