I've made some progress oh the geneaology front this week. I got hold of a rabbi who's a third cousin. He was interested in our shared great great grandfather so I sent him some materials. Like the issue of Connecticut History.
I also corresponded with the person who maintained some genealogy of the Schmeiheim Jews on another site.
He wrote back the calculated relationship between hmself and my grandfather.
Irwin Baumann is your wife's second great uncle's wife's brother's wife's second cousin once removed.
"Close enough for a loan," he joked.
Don't even try to figure that out but we're kin for sure.
I do want to work on my grandfather's German cousins and what happened to them.
On a positive note, I'm wandering in the wilderness wondering where to place my scrapbook paper, wrote to one of the authors of a scrapbook I used, she's a curator at Tulane. Wrote her cold. She replied said that she would be happy to look at the paper and give me some ideas. Yay!
