Folklife - a tremendously popular folk festival at Seattle Center over Memorial Day weekend. Nominally free though they sell buttons and have a suggested donation of $10.
I've gone for years, even pre-kids; though we quickly learned that you really can't take young kids.
But the last few years, I just can't take the crowds, as soon as I get there, I want to go home. Back in the day, I used to spend hours and hours there. It was just as crowded then.
Dennis wants to go this year; I think he would rather not go by himself. He suggests a technique we used to use. You find an indoor venue and you just stay there and listen to whoever's going to play. Don't try to move around. I'm tempted to try it.
It's SIFF, Seattle International Film Festival. So we need to get two movies in. Plus we have an appt to take Melina to the site of Danny's wedding so she can check it out.
Really, we are so fortunate, we can go if we want, we don't have to take care of bunches of kids; only a dog. Megan's here so she could even look after the dog.
A picture taken from Doug Plummer's blog used without permission. Oooh, I really like his daily blog Sort of the same idea as mine but it's all about the photography. A typical Folklife crowd.
I used to yearn for that Folklife experience. I would go and something I would see or hear would teach me something I never knew. There would be no way to know in advance it would be, you had to go and listen to all kinds of performances and it would happen.
