Photoessay #2901 - Searching for Sugar Man
I am not a big fan of the Oscars, don't watch it.
But I was so pleased to see "Searching for Sugar Man" win for best documentary. One weekend evening, I dragged Dennis off to the local second run movie theater. Look we're going to the movies, I told him. Just because. I looked to see what was at the Crest, saw this documentary, knew nothing about it and we went.
I loved it, just the whole story. I was corresponding with a friend of mine, a film director, and we agreed that the story would never work unless it was true. You would never believe it, it would make a weird not so great film. The verity makes it so memorable.
Picture of Sixto Rodriguez, the subject of the film. He couldn't attend because he was playing a concert in Capetown, SA. Which is the point of the whole movie!
