This is from the 'random things that are somehow on my desk' collection. How the heck this got here, I'll never know. Likely because I'm always going through lots of old stuff.
Flash from past circa 1978. After we were married in 1976, we moved to Chico, CA where my husband finished his degree. Wonderful town, we loved it. We bought this small house for 31K. It all seemed such a good idea at the time. I worked for a tiny educational evaluation firm based out of the university that contracted with the Department of Education in California. Dennis worked for the Chico Enterprise Record doing auxilliary printing. After he graduated, he worked for a semester teaching printing at Los Molinos High School up the road, tiny town that truly was just a wide spot in the road. None of these jobs had much potential to support a family so we decided that we needed to move to the big city with more opportunities. But what big city? Dennis' family had originally come from Seattle and I wanted to move to a place that was green all year round. I was done with semi-arid.
So we moved to Seattle in 1979. Been here ever since.
I did take some classes at CSU Chico. I took an environmental law class which I really loved. I was excited because I could see where the case turned. A California geography class, yeah always loved that. Then I branched out and took a geography class of a completely unfamiliar place (Soviet Union). I found that learning about the geography of these places was extremely difficult if you didn't have any context for the places. Just couldn't remember the names. Interesting.
So here's my student card. Shocking that my social security number was prominently featured on that card twice. I pinked it out. That was my student number back in the day. Never would happen now.
I am looking skyward towards what?????
