Picture from our trip in March to visit our friends Matt and Sue in Hampton Virginia. Where Hurricane Irene is ... right now. I haven't tried to call, I'm sure they're plenty busy. Looks like Irene is crossing directly over Hampton/Newport News. Some of the tweeting I've seen are talking about 12 inches of rain and widespread power outages. Apparently it takes a long time for this storm to pass.
Maybe they evacuated. But they have two cats, a puppy and 4 adults in their household so it might be pretty hard. They don't live near the water.
Picture taken from an outing to Fort Roberts in March. I believe we're looking out at Chesapeake Bay. Everything is blowing and flooding and surging around there today.
Also my buddy Margaret left for a business trip to New York City on Thursday. She was so excited to go, never been there. So now she's there with closed airports, shut down subway, canceled Broadway shows plus a hurricane. At least, she will have stories to tell.
