Photoessay #1446 - Japanese Garden/Paint/Michigan

Today Dennis and I picked up Melina and went to one of our new favorite places, the Japanese Garden in the arboretum. We went in the early spring, now summer, maybe again in the fall. Of course, it didn't really feel like summer that much with temperature in the low 70s but that's what passes for summer around here. Today we were able to purchase some "Koi Kibble" so Melina could feed those greedy big fishies.

I am glad to report that I actually got some shots where the foreground was in focus and the background blurred and vice versa. But it wasn't by working the settings, it was just focusing on the foreground or the background. Not sure that counts.

Came home and found James in full painting mode. We didn't even go upstairs. A little later, Melina and I went letterboxing in Edmonds (we have a lot of catching up to do) and found 3 our of 3 boxes. Not bad.

When I came home, the living room and dining room were completely torn apart, every piece of furniture moved and everything off the wall. James got on a roll and decided to finish the whole darn thing. I invited him for dinner, he'd been smelling that spaghetti sauce in the crock part all day. In the time, it took me to get dinner together, he put the whole place back. The paint dried and now everything is all set back. Furniture, pictures, Delia Wall, the whole thing. He thinks the flooring will come in on Wednesday maybe. But we are definitely back in business. A bunch of the kitchen is still in the den but that's it.

Melina is carving some stamps and we'll take her back home. Matt will show up later; he's on bed-making detail. Naomi and I spent a bunch of time today together between letterboxing figuring out her class schedule assuming she goes to Central Washington University in the fall. Which looks increasingly certain.

Melina took the picture of us this time. Can you believe we were both wearing the same t-shirt. Dennis hates that! But there we are with our Michigan Libraries t-shirt. You can tell that we're getting picnic lunch together. I don't even remember having that baguette with me, funny!
