My brother had described my job situation as 'a trainwreck in very very slow motion'. So true! I don't want to make light of actual trainwrecks as they can be very tragic. Apologies to who have been injured or lost loved ones in ACTUAL trainwrecks.
But I've been in this limbo for about 5 weeks so I feel it's all settled now. I get paid for 2 weeks and only have to answer questions anybody has and my layoff date will be Feb 1.
Whew, I've felt for the last week or so that the trains had hit and debris was thrown up into the air but had not yet landed. Just flying metal everywhere. You can't start to give aid or cleanup until all of the pieces have hit the ground. So, now they have and I'm grateful.
Definite mixed feelings, I've devoted over 14 years to this 'internet startup'. Only a very few people involved when I started (3 actually) and now dozens of people work for them. Don't know that they've ever made a profit. I've put my heart and soul into it, a true believer.
But times change. Hard to let go. But it's meant to be. A sign to do something else. I can spend time with my ailing mom. It's not financially catastrophic, not immediately anyway. I'll be able to collect unemployment. I'll have another job. I'll go to Japan. So many alternatives.
DECLARE VICTORY AND MOVE ON!
