Can I please, please listen to music that is not performed by nearly 70 year olds? I'm working on it. However the music popular when I came of age was performed by people older than myself.
But Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel are both 68, Mary Travers died the other day at 72. Neil Young? aaack! Seen a picture of Arlo Guthrie lately? I have a poster on my wall from a Relly & Maloney concert from *six* years ago and .... grandparent city.
I work here by myself. Because I'm doing different things today, I'm not on the phone as much. Since Ilana's working about 60 hrs/wk right now, I'm here mostly with Teddy. So I can blast the music as much as I want really.
So I've been poking around myspace and youtube, trying to figure out how it works so I can have some (free) music coming in. No wonder these artists can't make as much money because of freeloaders such as myself. CDBaby used to be good for this in year's past but no more.
Ilana got me going on Colin Meloy and the Decemberists so that's good. But the propensity for death and misery gets to me after awhile.
I have enjoyed the videos of Simon and Garfunkel's tour in Australia and Japan. Can Art Garfunkel really belt out "Bridge over Troubled Water" as he could as a younger man. Not really. Still great to listen to though.
Here's a version from Melbourne
Keeping in mind, that they always make you sound better in the studio.
So likely, I *know* there are young artists out there who I would like. Suggestions?
