Today, Dennis (along with Teddy) and I went to Tiger Mountain. Or is it Cougar Mountain? Turns out both of them are in the area. We were at Tiger Mountain, realizing that we had never been to Mount Si or the Issaquah Alps. Dennis still wanted a camper van (we decided to purchase a regular Toyota van instead). So, if we have some time, why not go?
So I found a weenie hike. Wheelchair accessible, can't be too bad. Under 2 miles. It's probably 15 miles to I-90 and this hike was just at Exit 20, past Issaquah. So off we went and did the hike, plus some extra on the "Around Lake Tradition" trail.
When we started on the trip, it was raining pretty hard but, as northwesterners, we didn't let that stop us. You may as well go because you really might not get wet at all. I brought a change of clothes in case I got sopped. But the weather improved and we were just fine.
Afterward, Dennis wanted to go up the road. I mentioned that I had never seen Snoqualmie Falls, so now we had a destination. We took Preston Fall City Road Road just two miles up I90. We remember that a workmate from 30 years ago talked about purchasing the Preston SawMill. Did he ever do it? We went by; looked pretty deserted.
Snoqualmie Falls drop and color is very dramatic. The lodge along the top has been bought by a private company and much upgraded. Apparently part of the deal included construction of a public overlook. Several signs proclaimed "Dogs not allowed" but we took him anyway. Obviously we didn't tarry, I took some pictures and we took our illicit pup back to the parking lot.
Who knows, this could be a habit. Actually the whole trip only took about 4 hours.
