Photoessay #835 - We buy the used car

So we buy the 2000 van with 47K miles. It's a good car but we're rather paralyzed. Was this a good idea? Low mileage, one owner car but it is 9 years old. Mechanic suggests that we do a 90K maintenance just because so much time has gone by.

Dennis and I are consumed with a bit buyer's shock exhaustion. We find out that it takes over $100 just to get another key (we only have one) because it has a chip that has to be programmed through the car, etc etc

But we did get $1250 on the tradein. Which, since we were considering having it towed away, is quite good. Goodbye failing transmission. That van had a charming feature. The pine needles jam up the drainage of the water falling on the car. So it collects and makes worrisome sloshing noises when you turn corners, finally dumping several cups of dirty cold water onto the feet of your passenger. I truly will not miss that. It sounded terrible too.

But, time will tell if this is a good purchase. Picture of Dennis and sales manager at the end
