Photoessay #687 - Life's toll

Hit the afternoon, didn't have a subject or a picture. Think I will go over to Ilana's facebook site and see what appeals to me that I can steal.

The picture captures my eye. It's Ilana somewhere (help me out). Climbed up on top picture taken from below. Implies height. Implies triumpth. Implies independence. Implies daring. The wild outdoors. Moments we might take for granted.

However life takes it's toll from the moment of our birth. Her friend who had the car accident who is just getting out of the wheelchair. Another friend who started acting out in middle school who has had pretty bad scrapes with the law.

When you are reading about kids you know under http://dw.courts.wa.gov ... it's a bad thing. I don't know how to read the entries very well but words like "arraign" and "firearms" and "no contact order" and "notice of felony" and "sentence" are not words you want to see associated with your child (or anybody else's for that matter!)

Plenty of young people with parents in Parent Group are making decisions involving, drugs, alcohol, weapons, relationships which will take their toll. Those young people think they are invincible. They think that it's only those 'losers' that suffer the consequences. Not them.

Of course, we all go through life together. But not forever. Life takes its toll.

Just celebrate the moments that you have. This picture, for example!

funny you should mention the car accident, as this picture was taken during Neil Erynn and my lunch break on our way to pick Marie up from the airport. We beat the salmis out of the house, so we stopped in Bellingham at the park to dick around for a couple of hours.

Good trip. Glad we did it. Even being all jet lagged and broken, Marie looked really happy to see us.
