Photoessay #450 - Waiting for new parents

Even though we empirically know that the charrger MUST be here within 3 feet of me...it's got to be here. We ordered a new one. Dennis suggested ordering the very cheapest becase, as soon as you order it, you know it will appear. At the same time, I ordered a new one for Naomi, who is also experiencing the mysterious vanishing camera battery charger phenomenon.

So, until it comes, no new pictures. This is just from last week. In our new room, Diane and Gary, wait for new parents to the group. They will do new parent orientation for any new folks who come. I can't remember if any new parents came, our attendance was pretty strong, about 39. We just set off a portion of the room with our boxes of information and our library of books. At the old room, we had a stage. This works though.

I really like both of these people. Gary is a scientist, he came to the group for help parenting his stepdaughter. He called me after the first week and doing due diligence, he asked what published studies supported these parenting techniques. I said, none, this is all anecdotal and verbally taught. That was out of his comfort level. But he stayed and listened and he liked it and now after nearly 5 years, he's still here and giving back. I do admit featuring him earlier in a candid shot paying his library fines.

I met Diane back when Amy and Susanna were in pre-school (they're now 24!). I've also been a client for her house-cleaning business. She started sharing about her difficulties with her 14 year old daughter, I suggested she come with me to group and boom, 4 1/2 years later she's still here. I think that she's implemented this program just about the best way possible. Her husband, Miguel, has a tremendously important purpose overseeing our set up and tear down every week. He's our closer and COO. Diane is VERY wise.

I do orientation tomorrow night....
