Today I had lunch with two friends of long-standing. Actually they haven't known each other for so long but I introduced them to each other over a year ago and now it all works out. First time we all three got together but that's the plan for next month. Our own ages, experience, education and common experience unites us. Some hard times and tragedies as well.
Beautiful summer day near GreenLake. The wading pool in the background across the street. Even a little warm to sit out her the whole time, can you imagine? I truly believe that you need to keep your women friends close with you. All three of this have marriages of long standing (and varying stability) and grown children (though some college age). Parents who are aged or passed away. Jobs we have worked for a long time, college degrees (they both have masters). We've all lived in the Seattle area for a long time. Both of their sons have known my son as young boys.
I met Mary Ann in 1981, she called us for our WACAP pre-adopt. I met Linda in 1983, I worked at Battelle as a research assistant for a time.
When all things shake out, your friends will be the ones there that you can count on.

Hey, Sandy, this was sent to me at work as we have a Google alert for mentions of WACAP! It was a good lunch and I am looking forward to August. Working full time makes it really hard to keep up with any friends!
You are looking good in this picture! I hope it's ok that I wrote about it.
